Those meds can *definitely* give you side effects even within a few hours. I had really scary ones from Zoloft.
Maybe you should take some Gravol for your nausea? |

I had bad nausea and a headache for the first 5 days I took fluoxetine. It passed though and after that I had no physcal effects. Hope you can see it through the first few days and that it works well for you

I've noticed side-effects on day one or two every time I've been on anti-depressants (Zoloft and Cipralex). But I never stayed on them long enough to see if it passed when my body adjusted (because the side-effects were so severe, my body reacts badly to anti-depressants unless I'm on a mood stabilizer first)

Have your side effects passed yet? Sometimes they do settle down/go away but sometimes it takes several different attempts to find an anti-d that is right for you. I went through three different ones within the space of a couple of months before I found one that didn't zombify me or make me constantly sick!

Bedhead- i had that with effexor (venlafaxine, whatever!) when i started taking it. really bad nausea. and increased anxiety, which didnt help the nausea. I was given like antacids to take, and they helped a bit, though its head nausea and not tummy nausea (does that even make sense???!!!) and also, motilium (domperidon i think its mediciney name is) helped. Travel sickness pills perhaps too, though i didnt resort to that i know someone who did. It does pass though really truly will. (until u increase/decrease but u'l have found a way to cope by then!) Re weight gain, it says on all reviews and leaflets ive seen "weight gain or loss" so really its probably weight neutral. It doesnt cause weight gain by any chemical action it has, weight gains caused by eating more/exercising less. In this meds case anyway. I lost weight but that was because i ate less!!!

I took venlafaxine for a really short time (panic attacks got worse) but from the first day I was taking it I was throwing up, and after about 5-7 days they subsided. I didn't gainany weight on venlafaxine, maybe lost (it's hard to tell what from!) - I've only really gained weight on sertraline, and I haven't gone back on it since. Go back to your GP if you get any worse symptoms..

Weight gain with antidepressants is usually only 5lbs at most and a lot of times there is weight loss too. I know that doesn't sound trivial, but if it was me that's really negligible in comparison to being sane. You could definitely have side effects this early. Call your doc, maybe then can adjust the dose or have to take it at a different time or with foods that will prevent the nausea.

not sure of med you're on, etc. but some side effects do take longer to develop, however, nausea is most likely not one as it's (most likely) more of an issue of intolerance than indirect chemical cause
make sure you're taking them on a full stomach! that's the only reason i eat some days... bc if i take them on an empty stomach, i *will* barf (hah not to gross you out or anything!)

Thanks everyone!
The side effects have actually gone away, well the nausea at least. I am supposed to take it with food in the morning, but for some reason I get really sick eating in the morning (plus ed reasons, I wont eat in morning). But I tried for a week straight not too long ago, and each time I got upset stomach and diahrrea (sorry if tmi). But I found that drinking it with LOTS of water has helped. I am upping my dose pretty soon, in 3 days I think? So Im expecting more side effects, but it should be easier with no school this time. As for the weight gain, I know its a really stupid thing to consider when taking meds to better my mental health, but I am still eating disordered and its hard to take. Plus a lot of the reviews people were gaining 35+lbs and SWEARING that they were on a healthy diet and exercising. But also some lost, I am going to TRY this pill. Im not dedicated to it, but Im going to give it an honest try (which is a HUGE step for me). Weird side effects that Im not sure are related- odd sleeping, some days I cant sleep that well, and others I sleep tons (today I just slept for 14 hours, which is very rare). Also I was at my practicum and trying to read I kept seeing flashing lights in both corners of my eyes, so I looked around and there were none anywhere I did this a few times, then closed my eyes and there were flashing lights still. Like someone flashing the lights "on and off" very fast. It was annoying and lasted about 10-15 minutes. I might bring this up to him if it happens again.I dont see him until March. Again, thanks for the responses, they are much appreciated
